My French is not very good but I am kinda sure these lads are singing about how nothing has changed. But perhaps things are changing…..Nous Verrons Ce Que Nous Verrons .

Inspiration: Delia Derbyshire
Completely under-recognized, Delia was an incredible electronic music pioneer. Before computers and synthesizers, just using spliced reel to reel tapes and loops. Jaw dropping IMO.

some soundscaping on this one. It has taken so many forms and used so much source material I lost count. I know there are some Bollywood and sci-fi in there. These always end up much shorter than I realize. And I also seem to be more engaged with the sound elements lately. I think the next few should begin with the visuals and let the sound follow (which is how forbiddenalice went down).

Continuing to look at masterworks like the Whitney video. Here is an amazing film by Len Lye “Swinging the Lambeth Walk” from 1940. The complexity and interaction between sound and form and color is beyond anything I can do, and he did this by painting and scratching directly onto the film. I could watch this all day. more here

yantradada
Something a bit faster than my last two. Video consists of snippets of the movie Tron and some animation pioneer James Whitney’s Yantra. Music is a hodge-podge of many things including some muzak, Sesame Street, and bits of sound from a doc on Dada.

forbiddenalice
Here is one of my first videos using found datamoshed video of Forbidden Planet and various sound elements including parts of Alice in Wonderland. It is one of the more conventional ones i think. It gets a little over-indulgent at the end, my apologies.

This is not mine. Music by Black Dice and video by Danny Perez and Ara Peterson. Just amazing to me musically and visually. Komoko from NETMAGE FESTIVAL on Vimeo. Another Black Dice video by Perez here. Be careful, apparently it can cause seizures!
